Best 21 inch push Gas Lawn Mowers

SENIX 21 Inch 144cc Review

3-in-1 Cutting for $249.99

The SENIX 21 inch 144cc is a 3-in-1 gas push mower with a 1.7 bushel bag at $249.99, weighing 54.2 lbs. Owners of flat lawns up to around 8,000 sq ft get the most from it, and the catch is that nearly every review on the listing was written about the 2-in-1 version sold alongside it at $259.99.

The verdict

The cheapest 21 inch gas mower worth buying

At $249.99, the SENIX 21 inch 144cc undercuts every other 21 inch mower in our top ten by $80.00 or more. You get a 21 inch steel deck, a 144cc 4-cycle OHV engine, three cutting modes, a 1.7 bushel grass bag and 6 cutting positions from 1.25 to 3.75 inches on a dual lever.

At 54.2 lbs it is also the lightest mower here, which matters a lot on a mower you push yourself. jwright, 5 stars on 4 Jan 2026 with 5 helpful votes, describes super easy setup with no tools required, says it seems well made while being lighter than older mowers, and credits the larger rear wheels for making turns easy.

The rating belongs to a different mower

The listing shows 4.0 stars from 596 ratings. Four versions share that number: this 144cc 3-in-1, a 144cc 2-in-1 at $259.99, a 125cc and a 140cc.

Nearly every review we read carried the 144cc 2-in-1 tag. The 3-in-1 you would be buying barely appears in its own review pool. The two mowers are close enough in hardware that the reviews are still informative, and the star rating is still not a verdict on the product in your cart.

Two owners, two completely different companies

SENIX customer service is the sharpest disagreement we found anywhere in this category, and both reviews landed on the same day.

Mike Withrow gave the mower 1 star on 29 Jun 2026. His handle arrived bent. SENIX told him to register the mower and then take it up with Amazon, so he zip tied it himself and counted that as strike one. Two weeks later the mower stopped while he was cutting and would not restart. He emailed SENIX again and got no response at all. His words are that it is an affordable mower that mows well when it is running, and that he got the one out of many with issues and has nobody willing to make it right.

Daniel R gave the same mower 5 stars on 18 Apr 2026. His arrived with a small defect too, and he says he cannot remember the last time he had a more positive experience with a company customer service department.

Same product, same month, opposite outcomes. Plan for the Mike Withrow version and keep your Amazon return window in mind.

Quality control at the factory

Two owners reported parts that were wrong before they ever ran the mower. David L Wert, 5 stars on 29 Jun 2026, says the mower runs great with two issues: the bolt securing the handle to the frame was broken, and whoever assembled the wheels put the height adjuster on upside down.

Starting it, and the free trick that prevents trouble

SENIX advertises seconds-fast startup and a pre-filled engine, though there is no automatic choke on this model, so expect to prime and pull. Tammy Manuel, 5 stars on 12 May 2026, reports good packaging, easy assembly, everything needed including oil, and a mower that started right up once she added oil and gas and followed the directions.

Amy, 5 stars on 24 Jun 2026, offers the single most useful piece of advice in this whole category. She lets the mower run out all its gas at the end of every use, because that keeps the carburetor clean and helps it start well.

Her habit prevents the exact failure that ruins these mowers. Gas left standing in a cheap carburetor gums up over weeks, and a sticking float can let fuel leak past into the engine. An owner of the PowerSmart 21 inch spent a whole summer chasing that fault. Running the tank dry costs nothing.

Who should buy it

Flat lawns up to around 8,000 sq ft where a 21 inch deck saves real passes and the extra $80.00 for self-propelled drive would be wasted. Light, cheap, three cutting modes, oil in the box.

Sloping ground needs a drive system, and the BILT HARD at $329.99 is the cheapest way to get one with a bigger engine behind it.

Questions people ask

What does the 596 rating count on this SENIX cover?

Four versions share it: this 144cc 3-in-1, a 144cc 2-in-1 at $259.99, a 125cc and a 140cc. Nearly every review we read carried the 144cc 2-in-1 tag, so the 4.0 stars mostly describes the 2-in-1. The hardware is close, and the number is still not about the mower you are buying.

Is SENIX customer service any good?

Owners of this exact mower tell opposite stories on the same day. Mike Withrow, 1 star on 29 Jun 2026, was told to register the mower and then contact Amazon when it arrived with a bent handle, zip tied it himself, and got no reply at all to a second email when the mower stopped starting. Daniel R, 5 stars on 18 Apr 2026, had a small defect and says he cannot remember a more positive experience with a company customer service department. Buy on the assumption it could go either way.

Does it come with oil?

Yes. Tammy Manuel, 5 stars on 12 May 2026, reports everything you need including oil in the box, and that it started right up once she added the oil and gas and followed the directions.

How do I stop the carburetor gumming up?

Run the tank dry. Amy, 5 stars on 24 Jun 2026, says she lets it run out all the gas at the end of every use, which keeps the carburetor clean and helps it start well. A gummed or flooded carburetor is the most common cause of a cheap gas mower refusing to start, so her habit is worth copying.

Is 21 inches too much mower to push?

At 54.2 lbs, no, as long as the ground is flat. jwright, 5 stars on 4 Jan 2026, calls it well made and lighter than older mowers, and says the larger rear wheels make turns easy. Slopes are a different matter and a self-propelled mower earns its money there.
